My Story
Choosing an instructor is personal
You’ll spend a lot of hours sitting beside whoever teaches you to drive, so it should feel right from the start. Some people take to it quickly, others need a little longer — and honestly, neither matters to me. I teach the person in front of me, not a fixed routine.
I’ve been a DVSA-approved instructor for over twenty years, and I’ve lived with anxiety for most of my life. That isn’t something I hide — it’s the reason patience comes naturally to me, and why no one ever feels rushed in my car.
Confidence
Confidence is the real lesson
Anyone can be shown where the pedals are. The part that actually keeps you safe — reading the road, planning ahead, trusting your own judgement — takes a little longer, and it only grows when you understand the why behind it. So that’s what I teach. Not routines to memorise, but the quiet confidence that stays with you long after the test.
I’ve never met anyone who couldn’t learn to drive. Some people just need a calmer start than others — and that’s exactly what I’m here for.

Why Automatic
Why I only teach automatic
Take away the clutch and the gears and something lovely happens: there’s suddenly room to breathe. No stalling, no kangaroo starts, no juggling your feet at a junction. Just you, the road, and the space to actually think — which, for a nervous learner especially, changes everything.
One less thing to think about
Your attention stays where it belongs — on the road and the traffic around you, not on your feet.
Calmer from the very first lesson
With less to juggle, those early lessons feel manageable — and that’s usually where enjoyment quietly begins.
For Nervous Learners
If you’re nervous, you’re in the right place
A lot of people arrive certain they’ll never enjoy this. Maybe a past lesson knocked their confidence; maybe the thought of getting something wrong is enough. I understand it more than most — and I promise you it’s normal.
In my car, a mistake is just information. Nothing more. We slow things down, we talk it through, and we go at whatever pace lets you breathe. Nervous learners aren’t the hard part of my job — they’re my favourite part.
What I Believe
A few things I hold to
- ✓No two learners are the same, so no two lessons are either.
- ✓Confidence comes before cleverness.
- ✓There’s no such thing as a silly question.
- ✓Rushing helps no one, so we never do.
- ✓Passing is the goal — but driving safely for life is the point.
What To Expect
What a lesson with me feels like
There’s no mystery to it. Most learners travel the same quiet path — and somewhere along it, usually when they least expect it, the whole thing simply clicks.
First lesson
Gentle and unhurried. We just get a feel for the car together.
Finding your feet
The basics start to settle, and so do the nerves.
Driving independently
You make the calls. I’m simply there if you want me.
The mock test
We rehearse the real thing until it feels ordinary.
Test day
Calm and ready — because you’ve done all of this before.
The Car You’ll Learn In
Small, smooth and easy to trust
I chose the Toyota Yaris Hybrid for a reason, and it isn’t the badge. It’s compact, so it’s easy to place on the road and simple to judge. Visibility is excellent, the automatic gearbox means nothing to stall or crunch, and it’s forgiving when you’re still finding your way. Most pupils tell me they feel settled in it within the first few minutes — and that’s exactly the point. The car should quietly get out of your way, so you can get on with learning.

Ready when you are
Let’s take the first lesson together
You know a little about me now — how I teach, and why I still love doing it. If that sounds like the calm, patient start you’ve been hoping for, I’d genuinely love to hear from you. No pressure, no rush; just a friendly first lesson, whenever you’re ready.
